Why is it that some people on Deviant get all the fan base while others get little to nothing? (not complaining, just pointing things out)

a few days ago a friend of the family came to me and told me a few things that everyone should know:

when you create art you need to to think about a few things. The first being that you should find out why you are creating the art in the first place? Second, who are you making it for? Third, is it worth your time? ie.) if the first two are questions are answered are the answers really what you are looking for, and are they making it hard for you to do your work? That was a good movie...It is rare to see the sequel of a sequel do well... Usually the sequels suck and ruin the original movie... That is why I am hesitant when movies make sequels
